When you describe something is "like Groundhog Day," the majority of people understand what you mean: it seems as though the same event is repeating itself. We owe this now-ubiquitous idiom to Bill Murray's Groundhog Day, which aired 25 years ago today (or 9,125 days ago, if you're keeping track). Murray stars in the 1993 picture as Phil Connors, a cynical weatherman who, after being assigned to cover the Punxsutawney, Pa., celebrations on Feb. 2, finds himself reliving the same day again and over. Nobody else—not even Rita, the producer he's futilely courting, portrayed by Andie MacDowell—seems to be feeling this terrible deja vu, which results in a great deal of existential distress for Phil.
I spent a good deal of time working on this image...probably five days...because I've never done anything like it before with this crayon-like approach and outlines. I just want to give it a go. Even though it was a lot of effort, Mr. Murray is well deserving hehe...probably he's my second favorite actor after Dan Aykroyd. additional artwork by me:
