Billy Ocean (born Leslie Sebastian Charles on 21 January 1950 in Fyzabad, Trinidad) is a Grammy Award-winning British popular music musician who achieved worldwide success in the 1970s and 1980s with a run of rhythm and blues-tinged international pop successes. He was the 1980s' primary British R&B singer/songwriter. He waited seven years after recording his first four UK top 20 hits before racking up a string of transatlantic hits, including three US top tens. At the conclusion of the music video for "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)," Ocean rises and sees a lady approaching him. As he prepares to embrace her, she goes by him, much to his dismay. An alternate video has Ocean singing the song live at one of his 1986 gigs.
