It's been a long since I've written a blog post, so I thought I'd return with an expression of my desire for a maroon beauty I recently fell in love with. To begin, if you haven't watched the latest Fast & Furious film, you should. By far the finest film to come out of the series so far. I read the Wikipedia page before to viewing (yeah, I cheated, but who cares?) and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. However, what elevated the film to new heights was Dom's new rideââ.

The Plymouth Superbird is a significantly upgraded Plymouth Road Runner. In 1968, NASCAR driver Richard Petty was dissatisfied with the performance of the standard Road Runner and requested that Chrysler provide him new Charger 500 and Daytona 500 cars for the 1969 season. Petty was informed by Chrysler that they were a Plymouth Team, not a Chrysler Team. Between 1969 and 1970, the Dodge Charger Daytona won six races, while the Superbird won eight races in 1970 alone. Due to NASCAR homologation rules, road-going versions of both the Daytona and Superbird were required. Despite being a missile on track, the Superbird failed to generate enough sales to meet homologation requirements, and by the end of 1970, NASCAR had banned both the Charger Daytona and Superbird, as well as the Ford Torino Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II, for their exceptional speed.
