I've always had an odd fascination with state borders, and one of the wonderful things about living in the smallest state, Rhode Island, is that I cross them often. I really reside about as far away from a state boundary as one can go in Rhode Island, yet I'm still just 25 minutes or less from both Connecticut and Massachusetts. People who use Google Maps for navigation who reside in locations like California or Texas are probably unaware, but Google has been sending users a sweet "Welcome to [state name]" greeting when they reach a new state for the last year or two. "Welcome to New Hampshire," the software will say, and "Welcome to New Hampshire" will show on the screen, along with a little emblem representing the state. Due to the fact that I probably travel the state every couple of weeks, I see them on a daily basis.
Additionally, an icon object contains an anchor property that we will not use in our example but which is quite significant. The anchor property specifies the location of the icon's hotspot (based on the scaledSize and origin value). The graphic below illustrates what occurs when you experiment with anchor values. The relevant coordinates are shown by the red default Google Maps marker. Anchor (top left image) is set to the default value of the point in the center of the icon's bottom. To edit the icon for a particular marker on your map, click the Edit button in the Marker Listing, as shown below.
After clicking the Edit button, the Add a Marker panel will display the data for the chosen marker. To modify the icon for the Marker, click the Upload Image option.
