,(1964) Charlotte Hollis, a prosperous southern spinster, is ostracized by her town for the brutal murder of her intended, John Mayhew, some 40 years previously. Despite the fact that her guilt was never established, the villagers compare her to a modern-day Lizzie Borden. The assassinations are similar in character, and the youngsters mock her with nasty songs. As a result, she lives in seclusion from the rest of society. Velma, her devoted servant, looks after her needs. When the Sheriff issues an eviction notice, she refuses to move and even fires pot shots at highwaymen who infringe on her property line. Charlotte enlists the assistance of "Cousin Miriam" in the public campaign to rescue her house. However, is Charlotte delusory? This picture was intended to serve as a kind of follow-up to "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" However, this picture lacks the energy of the original film's dueling actresses, Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Rather than that, we got the perennial sweetheart of Hollywood's golden period, Olivia de Havilland, against Bette Davis. Additionally, Olivia and Bette were always cordial, despite the fact that they were both very ambitious at the same time and at the same place - Warner Brothers in the 1930s and 1940s.
